From December 16 to December 17, Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU) hosted training for Thai Chinese language teachers. 41 Thai Chinese language teachers from 11 colleges and schools of Assumption education system attended the training. Dr. Amnuay Pinratana and Dr. Kamol Kitsawad, vice presidents of Assumption University attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
On behalf of Assumption University, Dr. Amnuay Pinratana welcomed all the participants and praised CIAU for what they have done for Chinese language teaching, cultural activities and strengthening the friendship between Thai and Chinese.
Mr. Zhao Peiqin, the Chinese director of CIAU, explained the aim and services of Confucius Institutes in detail and expressed his hope for future cooperation with colleges and schools of Assumption education system.
The training aims at providing a platform for Thai Chinese language teachers to share their teaching experiences, to improve their teaching and get a better understanding of Chinese culture.
The training includes lectures, discussions and Chinese culture learning. Professor Wang Wei showed his Question-Answer teaching method through his humorous presentation of his teaching experience, which gave the local Chinese language teachers some hints on how to improve the students’ Chinese learning. Mr. Aphinop Karunyalert showed the teachers how to improve their computer-aided teaching with modern multimedia.
Professor Yang Hairong chaired the seminars on the Application of Chinese Grammar Teaching Methodology and Chinese Teaching Methodology and Teaching Techniques. The seminars gave the teachers the opportunity to share their teaching experiences and the solutions for difficulties they met. Professor Yang’s teaching through playing games gives the teachers some hints and references.
The teachers also have the opportunity to sharpen their skills in paper cutting, calligraphy, Chinese Kungfu and Chinese traditional musical instrument.
On the closing ceremony, Ms. Siriluk Chaiprompasit, the Thai director of CIAU, congratulated the teachers on their completing the training, informed the teachers of the upcoming activities of CIAU and expressed her hope for future cooperation with the colleges and schools the teachers come from. All the teachers say that they gained a lot from this training.
