On January 16, 2024, Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU) successfully organized the first CIAU Table Tennis Competition, co-hosted by the Center for Sports and Physical Fitness. The thrilling event unfolded at the Badminton Courts of the John Paul II Sports Center on the Suvarnabhumi Campus of Assumption University of Thailand (AU).
Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, Vice president for Moral Development Education, Mr. Nukul Chaisuriya, Director of Center for Sports and Physical Fitness, and Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Director of CIAU, graced the occasion. Assoc. Prof. You Long from the Department of Physical Education at Tianjin University of Science and Technology presided as the chief referee.

The competition adopted the internationally recognized 11-point system, utilizing a best-of-three format with single elimination. After intense competition, Mr. Shi Liping, PhD student from Graduate School of Human Science clinched the first spot, Ms. Liu Kexin from Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics secured second place, and Mr. Kittisak Kotwongsa from Office of the VP for Administrative Affairs earned the third position. During the award ceremony, Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong presented awards to the deserving winners.
The CIAU Table Tennis Competition not only fostered a spirit of healthy competition but also promoted the cultural exchange and shared passion for sportsmanship among the AU community. In addition to organizing this competition, to facilitate more interaction among ping pong enthusiasts, CIAU also conducted table tennis training sessions at Assumption College Sriracha.
