CIAU Chinese Singing Contest 2024 Grand Finale: A Day of Melody and Harmony

 

 

On January 12, 2024, the grand finale of the CIAU Chinese Singing Contest 2024 unveiled at the Communication Arts Studio, Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus. The event was graced by Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of Assumption University of Thailand (AU), Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayon, Vice President for Moral Development Education, The University Campus Ministry, and Director, John Paul II Center for Catholic Social Thought, Dr. Marissa Chantamas, Dean of the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, Prof. Zhong Qiangwei, Director of Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University, Assoc. Prof. Han Shenglong, Director of Confucius Institute of Chulalongkorn University, Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Director of Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU), and Aj. Vitti Thitivongse, Deputy Chairperson of Louis Nobiron School of Music.

 

                        

 

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of AU, expressed gratitude to the participants for coming to Assumption University to showcase their talents. He highlighted the significance of the CIAU Chinese Singing Contest, now in its eighth edition, as a bridge fostering cultural exchange and friendship between Thailand and China. The AU President also extended gratitude to all participants, and the AU community for contributing to the success of the CIAU Chinese Singing Contest 2024.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, acknowledged the passion displayed by participants in learning Chinese songs. He congratulated the contestants for emerging victorious from the preliminary rounds and expressed hope for their continued success. His wishes were not just for success in the competition but also for the contestants to play a role in enhancing the friendship between China and Thailand in the future.

 

                      

 

With a total of 107 entries received from across 21 provinces of Thailand, including Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Kanchanaburi, Krabi, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Bua Lamphu, Nong Khai, Phetchabun, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ratcha Buri, Rayong, Si Sa Ket, Songkhla, and Yala, ect, the competition showcased the vast musical talents prevalent among the youth. The finalists, numbering 31, faced off in a dazzling display of vocal prowess, each vying for the coveted first prize in their respective groups.

As the contest unfolded, the atmosphere resonated with the collective anticipation of the audience. The climax arrived as the winners were announced. Ms. Sita Kositpattana, student of the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts of AU, claimed the Adult group first prize, delivering a captivating performance named 《余生请多指教》(The Oath of Love). Ms. Aomboon Boonampol from Fenghuang Language School took home the Teenagers group first prize, with the enchanting song 《中国》(China). In the Children group, Mr. Kantanat Suphasanrangsan from Thai-Christian Sapanluang School emerged triumphant, capturing hearts with the delightful melody of song 《我只在乎你》 (I only Care about You).

The CIAU Chinese Singing Contest 2024 concluded not only as a competition but as a celebration of cultural diversity, talent, and the enduring bond between China and Thailand. As the echoes of the grand finale lingered in the air, the event left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of those in attendance, promising continued success in the years to come.
