CIAU Successfully Organized Thai Chinese Language Teacher Training

 

 

On November 15, 2023, the Thai Chinese Language Teacher Training, organized by Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU), unfolded seamlessly at Wiset Si Samut, CL Building, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), Suvarnabhumi Campus. A total of 60 Thai Chinese language teachers from 12 provinces and areas, including Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Lopburi, Rayong, Ubon Ratchatani, Kalasin, etc., actively participated in this training program. These dedicated educators hailed from esteemed institutions such as Assumption Commercial College, Assumption College Samutprakarn, Assumption College Sriracha, Assumption College Rayong, Assumption College Thonburi, among others.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of AU, played a pivotal role by extending his wholehearted support and providing invaluable suggestions for the success of this event. The opening ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, Vice President for Moral Development Education, The University Campus Ministry, and Director, John Paul II Center for Catholic Social Thought.

 

                              

 

Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong warmly welcomed the participating teachers on behalf of AU, expressing sincere appreciation for CIAU’s efforts in organizing the training. He encouraged teachers from diverse regions to actively engage in collaborative learning and discussions, emphasizing the significance of applying acquired knowledge to daily teaching practices, thereby inspiring students to excel in their Chinese language studies.

During the training, Professor Zheng Chunping from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications delivered a lecture titled “Practices and Research on Language Teaching Empowered by Artificial Intelligence.” The lecture delved into the current applications and research trends of virtual reality, digital games, machine translation, language intelligent assessment, and multi-modal learning analysis technology in language education. Prof. Zheng Chunping shared insightful classroom teaching practices and research cases, providing invaluable perspectives for enhancing teaching and research capabilities.

Ms. Phingthichat Methatarnkul, Chinese teacher from Nawamintharachinuthit Triamudomsuksapattanakarn School, conducted a teaching workshop titled “Case Studies and Analysis of Chinese Language Teaching in Thai Primary and Secondary Schools.” Ms. Phingthichat offered demonstrations based on teaching material development, curriculum design, scientific teaching methods, and teaching assessment, comprehensively addressing the challenges and experiences in Chinese language teaching in Thai primary and secondary schools.

 

            

 

In the cultural activity segment, CIAU teachers guided participants in a hands-on lantern DIY craft after explaining the significance of lanterns in Chinese culture. Participant teachers expressed enthusiasm, deeming it a valuable cultural activity to share with their students. The event concluded with Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Director of CIAU, presenting training certificates to the participants.

 

           

 

Aligned with the latest trends in international Chinese education, this Thai Chinese Language Teacher Training provided a dynamic platform for sharing intelligent technology applications in language teaching. Focusing on the unique characteristics and development needs of Chinese language teaching in Thailand, the event successfully facilitated the exchange of teaching philosophies, methods, and representative case studies. The positive outcomes of the training are poised to contribute significantly to the high-quality development of Chinese language education in Thailand.
