On July 28, 2023, Ms. Irin Viravanichai, a master’s student from Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Assumption University of Thailand (AU), also a student of Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU), had the honor of participating in an interview with China’s prominent media outlet, Xinhua News Agency, during the 31st International University Sports Federation (FISU) Summer World University Games.
Xinhua News Agency reporter, Wang Yuanyuan, interviewed Irin as a representative of Thai university students, introducing her as a graduate student from AU and a member of the university’s swimming team. In Irin’s perspective, the 31st FISU World University Summer Games not only serve as a stage for athletes to showcase their youth and talents but also as a grand cultural exchange event transcending national borders. Young people from different countries interact and engage in friendship-building activities, contributing their youthful energy to mutual cultural learning and appreciation.
The interview gained widespread attention and was featured in various Chinese media outlets, including Xinhua Net, Guangming Daily, and China News Network. During the interview, Irin extended her best wishes to the Thai sports delegation, hoping for their outstanding achievements in the 31st FISU World University Summer Games.
The 31st FISU World University Summer Games are currently being held in Chengdu, China, from July 28 to August 8. A total of 55 Thai university students participated in the competition. As of August 3, 2023, 10:00 (UTC+7), the Thai sports delegation has already secured 2 gold medals and 3 bronze medals.
