Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU) organized CIAU Board Meeting 2023, on July 6, 2023 at SG106, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), Suvarnabhumi Campus. Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, CIAU Chairman, AU President – Rector Magnificus, Prof. Dr. Wang Min, CIAU Chinese Chairman, Vice President of Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST), Mr. Zhao Peiqin, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office of TUST, Ms. Fan Yi, Deputy Director of Financial Management Office of TUST, Asst. Prof. Dr. Patchanee Yasurin, Dean of Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology of AU, and Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Director of CIAU, attended the meeting.
Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of AU, first welcomed the guests from Tianjin. Over the past year, the collaboration between AU and TUST has progressed further, including the establishment of the AU-TUST Joint Research Institute for Modern Biological and Medical Technology. Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran thanks TUST for the support of CIAU’s work, and hopes that there will be further exchanges and cooperation between AU and TUST in the future.
Professor Dr. Wang Min, Vice President of TUST, expressed that with the strong support of Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran and Assumption University, CIAU has made significant progress since its establishment on September 12, 2015, both in terms of its scale of operation and social influence. It has received recognition from various sectors of society in China and Thailand. It is hoped that CIAU can actively integrate into AU and provide services such as Chinese language teaching, student recruitment promotion, and the establishment of a platform for China-Thailand exchange and cooperation.
Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Director of CIAU, reported on the CIAU 2022 work report, which included the operations and accomplishments of CIAU, as well as a summary of the budget for various projects in 2022. In the report, Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong elaborated on the diverse range of initiatives and programs carried out by CIAU throughout the year. These included but were not limited to Chinese language courses, cultural activities, and Chinese Proficiency Tests.
During the board meeting, the work plan for CIAU in 2023 was thoroughly discussed and reached a decision. Additionally, detailed discussions were held regarding the specific details and preparations for the annual projects scheduled for 2023, as well as the operational aspects of CIAU between AU and TUST.
