The 4th Chinese Singing Contest

January 10, 2020, Confucius Institute at Assumption University(hereafter CIAU) held the 4th Chinese Singing Contest. This contest attracted 65 participants from 26 colleges and schools which include Assumption University, Panyapiwat Institute of Management, Guang Hua School Rayong, Anubankrabi School and Anglo Singapore International School. Rev. Bro. Dr. Amnuay Yoonprayong, vice president of Assumption University attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech in Chinese. He encouraged the participants to get good grades in this contest.

 

This Chinese singing contest set up primary group, secondary group and university group. In primary group competition, every primary school students wore the formal dress with Chinese traditional features and song their favourite Chinese songs confidently. Parents of students sit in the auditorium and encouraged their children with expectation. Napassanun Rungvittaynun from Anglo Singapore International School sang “welcome to Beijing” and won the first prize of primary school group. Her childish voice and lovely dance performance won the warmly applause from the audience.

 

The middle school group was intense and lively. The 24 groups of contestants showed themselves in turns, presenting an audio-visual feast to the audience. There was continuous applause. Finally, Ms. Kanyawee Chutiphancharoen from Assumption College Thonburi won the first prize .

 

The grand finale was university group. Ms. Maliwan Krawaonak from Panyapiwat Institute of Management sang the classic opera --"The Nutcracker" with good performance and superb singing skills to conquer the judges, and finally won the second prize of the university group. Ms. Yurradee Khumkanokkan from AU won the first prize of the university group. The song she sang was "Li Ge". Her skillful singing skills were unanimously recognized by all audiences at the scene.

This contest is the fourth song contest hosted by CIAU since its establishment on September 12, 2015. All previous song contests have made a positive impact. The contestants learned a lot form this contest, in the meantime, their parents and the audience deeply felt the unique charm of Chinese songs and Chinese culture. CIAU will continue to build a platform for Thai students who like to learn Chinese and love Chinese culture to exercise more and show their self-style.
