Chinese Bridge Contest 2019

November 22, 2019, Confucius Institute at Assumption University(hereafter CIAU) held the 4th Chinese Bridge Contest. This contest attracted eight schools to attend. They are Assumption Samutprakarn School, Rayongwittayakom School, The American School of Bangkok, The Demonstration School of Silpakorn University and so on. After the selection of these participating schools, there were 15 students attended the final contest.

This contest included keynote speech, Chinese knowledge contest, impromptu speech and talent display. In order to create a real and fair competition for every contestant. All the competition links and rules were set in accordance with the formal Chinese competition.

The theme of the keynote speech is Chinese and me. Participants confidently told the story of their relationships with Chinese. Chariisa Saisiri, who was from Thawaranukul School, Samut Songkhram said: “ Learning is like rowing upstream, not to advance is to drop back. Learning Chinese is a long-term process. I will continue to study Chinese and become a ambassador for friendly exchanges between China and Thailand”. In impromptu speech, contestant gave a speech in a one minute according to the theme.Their quick-witted and wonderful performance won warm applause from the audience. Talent display session is the most anticipated by the audience. Saksit Nitiraksa from Assumption Samutprakarn School performed unique and high-difficulty Chinese dance which won the applause from the audience. Besides Chinese dance, the contestants brought an unparalleled visual and auditory talent feast to the audience by wonderful Guzheng performance, melodious poetry recitation and violin solos.

Finally, Hataipat Nuangkaewsin from Rayongwittayakom School won the first prize with 90.025 points. Chariisa Saisiri from Thawaranukul School won the popularity award with 655 likes for her personal talent video which was posted on the overseas official homepage of CIAU.

Series competitions of Chinese bridge are currently an important brand in the field of international cultural exchange activities. Chinese Bridge Competition wins the reputation of “ Chinese Olympic” in Chinese language competition and is worthy of the name of “the bridge of culture, the bridge of friendship and the bridge of mind”. In the future, CIAU will continue to actively serve Thai participants, and make efforts to help the majority of Thai students who like to learn Chinese know about Chinese bridge. Meanwhile, CIAU will provide a platform for students who are interested in participating in Chinese bridge contest to show themselves and provide more excellent participants for Chinese bridge competition.
