CIAU Students Autumn Camp 2019

From October 11th to 24th, 2019, Confucius Institute at Assumption University (hereafter CIAU) organized the autumn camp for Thai students to study at Tianjin University of Science and Technology (hereafter TUST). 59 students from Assumption College Thonburi, Assumption College Rayong, Assumption College Sriracha, Benchamaracharungsarit School and Sripruetta School took part in this autumn camp.

To improve Thai students’ and teachers’ Chinese language level, and let them to have a deep understanding of Chinese customs, TUST has developed its own advantages and organized professional teachers to provide various language and culture courses such as comprehensive Chinese, Tai Chi, calligraphy, Chinese painting, paper cutting, and Yang Liuqing wood-block picture. In addition, TUST also arranged Thai students to visit the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), Tianjin Museum, Yang Liuqing New Year painting Museum, the Great Wall at Huangyaguan and other cultural destinations.

At the graduation ceremony, TUST held a comprehensive examination for students. Nonthakon Nunoy, a student from Benchamaracharungsarit School won the TUST scholarship to study Chinese for one academic year. Vichit Kariyaleelakul and Chaiwat Thongdee, the students from Assumption College Sriracha and Benchamaracharungsarit School won the TUST scholarship to study Chinese for one semester. On the occasion of returning to Thailand, Thai students expressed their reluctance to China and their gratitude to the Confucius Institute Headquarters.

This camp is the third group of students to study and visit China which organized by CIAU in 2019. The students of previous summer camp and educational officials to China have made a positive impact because of the support of Confucius Institute Headquarters on the development of Chinese education in Thailand as well. CIAU has always been promoting the Sino-Thai friendship and Thai Chinese education career. In the future, CIAU will continue to deepen cooperation with domestic cooperative colleges and universities, utilize the advantages of domestic institutions effectively, cooperate with innovation, and adopt different forms of teaching to build a bridge for Thai Chinese teachers in communicating with China through various Chinese teaching and cultural activities.
