CIAU Held Confucius Institute Day

From August 3 to September 9, 2019, Confucius Institute at Assumption University (hereafter CIAU) held Confucius Institute Day activities jointly with Assumption College Sriracha, Sripruetta School, Saint Louis School Chachoengsao and Sarawittaya School. The theme of these activities is “To develop the relationship between China and Thailand through celebrating Confucius Institute Day”. More than 3000 Thai teachers and students took part in these activities.

A variety of activities such as traditional culture experience, Chinese film exhibition, Chinese Salon and so on, among which mooncake making is the most popular.

Traditional culture experience includes mooncake and dumpling making, paper cutting, Chinese painting, Chinese knots, panda painting, calligraphy, tea culture and Tai Chi, these activities attracted lots of students. In  Assumption College Sriracha, a Chinese teacher not only experienced all the cultural activities by herself, but also specially brought her 6-year-old son to experience Chinese culture. She said: “My child has been learning Chinese since he was young, but he doesn’t interested in Chinese, because he has less opportunity to experience Chinese culture in his daily life. I bring him here because of these varied activities on Confucius Day; therefore. I think he will like Chinese culture and enjoy learning Chinese language .” In Chinese film exhibition, all students were attracted by Kung Fu Panda. Cute and naive pandas won the cheers of students. Through teacher’s vivid analysis of the film, students not only learned the expression of movie lines, but also were interested in Chinese Kong Fu. In Chinese Salon, CIAU teachers prepared varied Chinese language knowledge game, students from ten classes at Sripruetta School attended the knowledge competition in turn.

CIAU insists the principle to tell Chinese stories well through holding varied cultural activities. Thai students have deepened their understanding of Chinese culture while experiencing Chinese cultural activities.
