Chinese Valentine’s Day Celebrating

On August 7, 2019, it is the Chinese traditional festival - the Qixi Festival, known as Chinese Valentine’s Day. 120 teachers and students from Benchamaracharungsarit School participated in the celebration of this festival which was held by Confucius Institute at Assumption University (hereafter CIAU).

For a better understanding of this festival among students, CIAU specially prepared a short film and an award-winning question and answer session for them.  They answered questions about the “Qixi Festival” actively.

“Qixi Festival” is also known as the “Qiqiao Festival”, CIAU members prepared a series of “Qixi” activities for students. Students have carefully studied the “begging for skills” courses such as Gu Zheng, Chinese knot, facial makeup, paper cutting, group fan and door knocker making.

In order to let students happily experience Chinese culture on this festival, CIAU also prepared a fun relay race game which included rope skipping, shuttlecock kicking, ping-pong juggling and traditional Chinese clothing wearing.

At the end of these activities, students expressed their gratitude to the CIAU members in a chorus of “Thank you teachers” in Chinese.

Through Chinese festival culture experiencing in CIAU, middle school students in Thailand became attached to “Chinese Valentin’s Day” and Confucius Institute. Moreover, they will understand and perceive China better through CIAU.
