Dubbing and short Film

On February 8th, 2019, Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU) held the first dubbing contest and short film contest awarding ceremony. This event attracted 16 teams from 15 schools in central and eastern Thailand. The event included live dubbing of clips of Chinese films and TV series, prize-giving quiz of Chinese films and TV series, the screening of excellent short film works, and the awarding ceremony.

This dubbing contest selected four clips of Chinese classic television series familiar to Thai people, which were Justice Bao, Journey to the West, Lotus Lantern and Nirvana in Fire. The twelve groups of players, with no more than five members in each group, selected one clip for dubbing performance. Among them, Nirvana in Fire and Journey to the West were the most popular with five groups chose Nirvana in Fire, and four groups chose Journey to the West. In the end, two contestants from International School Bangkok won the first prize. Their standard pronunciation, vivid sound, and imitating skills won them unanimous approval of audience and judges.

After the dubbing session, CIAU announced the awards of short film contest based on the results of the online voting, and exhibited the top three works. The first prize was Sin of Lust, performed by Sawang Boriboonwittaya School, which was not only up in online voting list, but also received favorable comments during the screening.

The success of this innovative dubbing contest and short film contest not only exercised the students’ language ability, but also enabled the participants to practice their Chinese expression ability in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Through Chinese classic films and television series, Thai students have deeply understood Chinese culture, thus effectively stimulated students’ enthusiasm for learning Chinese language.

CIAU will continue to actively explore and innovate, further give full play to the role of CIAU as bridges, continuously strengthen the brand building of featured activities, and launch more high-quality, high-level and distinctive cultural activities.
