Biotechnology Seminar

    On January 23rd, “Belt and Road” biotechnology seminar of Confucius Institute at Assumption University (hereafter CIAU) was held at Suvarnabhumi Campus of Assumption University, Thailand. The seminar attracted more than 100 scholars, teachers and students from Assumption University, Kookmin University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, and Tianjin University of Science and Technology.

    Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of Assumption University delivered the opening speech. He fully affirmed that this biotechnology seminar brought positive cooperation in promoting cooperation and innovation in biotechnology between China and Thailand. He hoped that the representatives would bring into innovative ways of thinking, and make full use of the good opportunities brought by One Belt and One Road Initiative, to contribute to exchanges and cooperation in the field of biotechnology. Dr. Bancha listened carefully to the wonderful reports of the experts.

   Prof. Qin Huimin, Prof. Xie Xixian and Asst. Prof. Mao Shuhong from Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Prof. Churdchai Cheowtirakul, Prof. Teeradate Kongpichitchoke, and Prof. Patchanee Yasurin from Assumption University made the reports respectively.

 

 

 

    Six experts had made great achievements in the field of biotechnology. In this seminar, experts conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions which related to the development of biotechnology, such as extract-loaded nanoparticles, determination of bio-active technology, dehydrogenation using arthrobacter simplex, condtruction of industrial engineered strains.

 

 

    Dr. Churdchai Cheowtirakul, dean of School of Biology of Assumption University, served as the chairman of this seminar. Ms. Siriluk Chaiprompasit, Thai director of CIAU, and Ms. Yang Hairong, Chinese director of CIAU, attended the seminar.

    The “Belt and Road” biotechnology seminar was the second biotechnology seminar held by CIAU. To achieve common development and mutual benefits, CIAU would continue to follow One Belt and One Road Initiative in China and Thailand 4.0 Strategy to actively collaborate and innovate, focus on broadening the development path of Confucius Institutes, give full play to the Confucius Institute’s communication and ties in Sino-foreign cooperation, and build platforms and bridges for cooperation in the fields of biotechnology and other countries along the “Belt and Road”.
