Chinese Food Festival

    November 21st, Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU) and Nawamintharachinuthit Triamudomsuksapattanakam School (NTS) jointly held the second Chinese Food Festival. Ms. Siriluk Chaiprompasit, Thai director of CIAU, Mr. Zhao Peiqin, the second Chinese director of CIAU, Ms. Yang Hairong, the third Chinese director of CIAU, Mr. Sutchukorn Tantithanawarapong, vice director of NTS, Mr. Kritsana Cham-ngern, vice director of NTS and more than 100 teachers and students majored in Chinese from NTS participated in the activity.

 

 

    In his speech, Mr. Sutchukorn Tantithanawarapong said that CIAU and NTS had been established a long-term friendly and cooperative relationship. The co-organization of Chinese Food Festival aimed to encourage students to learn Chinese language and Chinese culture. In his speech, Mr. Zhao Peiqin gave a brief introduction of CIAU and hoped students could learn more about Chinese cooking culture from fun in practice, so as to deepen their understanding and interests of Chinese language and Chinese culture.

    During the activity, not only did they learn how to make Chinese meals from Chinese cooks such as dumplings, steamed buns and Shao-Mai, but also traditional Chinese dishes such as shredded pork with garlic sauce and Kung Pao Chicken. Among the 36 students who participated in the Chinese Cuisine Contest, 12 contestants stood out and won the title of “2018 Chinese Food Festival Chef of CIAU”. After the contest, the contestants expressed their love for Chinese food and Chinese food culture. Chinese food was an important window for them to understand Chinese and Chinese culture.
