On November 13th, 2018 Board Meeting of Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU) was successfully held at Assumption University (AU) of Thailand. Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of AU, Mr. Zhang Aihua, Vice President of Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST), Mr. Wen Xin, deputy director of TUST Office, Ms. Siriluk Chaiprompasit, Thai Director of CIAU, Mr. Zhao Peiqin, the second Chinese Director of CIAU, Ms. Yang Hairong, the third Chinese director of CIAU, representatives of CIAU, and representatives of International Exchange Office of TUST attended the meeting.
In his speech, Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran welcomed the delegation from TUST and promised to continue his support to CIAU, as he is the Chairman of Board Committee of CIAU and the top management for CIAU. He hoped that the two universities could strengthen exchanges and cooperation in teaching and research through the platform of CIAU. He also gave a brief introduction to the core education philosophy of AU.
Mr. Zhang Aihua said that TUST would continue to strengthen the fruitful cooperation with AU. He commented that CIAU did very well in the past years. His suggested that CIAU should improve quality and efficiency, pay attention to internal quality featured development, and seize opportunities brought by China’s One Belt and One Road Initiative, Thailand 4.0 Strategy and Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Strategy, and make greater contributions to the exchanges and cooperation in education and culture between China and Thailand.
Mr. Zhao Peiqin reported the approvals of 2017 Board Meeting, the follow-up matters, activities during the past year and plans for 2019 to the leaders of Board Committee. The attendees discussed evaluation system for teaching sites, evaluation system for tests centers, how to improve Chinese language and culture curricula, new Hanban approved projects, complying local teaching materials, second “Belt and Road” biotechnology seminar, Chinese-featured courses, and internship base for Teaching Chinese to Non-Chinese Speakers majors of TUST.
The members of Board Committee also visited Nawamintharachinuthit Triamudomsuksapattanakam School (NTS), a teaching site of CIAU, to get information about its Chinese teaching, Chinese proficiency tests, and Chinese cultural activities. They were received by Mrs. Worachai Thongkham, director of NTS, and heads of different departments, representatives of teachers and students. They observed NTS’ Chinese classroom teaching.
