On August 16th, 2018, Confucius Institute of Assumption University (hereafter CIAU) hosted a Chinese culture camp for 94 teachers and students from Streesmutprakan School (SSP). This camp aims at enhancing the charm of Chinese traditional culture, stimulating the students' learning enthusiasm and interests through a variety of cultural activities.
At the beginning of the the camp, Mr. Zhao Peiqin, the Chinese director of CIAU, gave a brief introduction of Confucius Institutes (hereafter CI), CIAU’s teaching, training local Chinese teachers, Chinese proficiency tests, cultural exchange activities and so on. Then he gave an interesting lecture on the overview of China. The teachers and students got a better understanding of CIs’ function of comprehensive platforms for cultural exchanges, as well as briefs about China’s history, geography and culture.
The activities for the camp are Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, paper-cutting, Chinese chess, masks painting, Gu Zheng. Showing strong interests, the teachers and students delightedly experienced the above activities.
At the closing ceremony, on behalf of the visiting group, one teacher and one student gave gratitude speeches in which they thanked CIAU for the well prepared and rewarding activities of the camp and said that they would work harder in Chinese language and culture learning.
