Camp at Sripruetta

On August 6th, 2018, Confucius Institute at Assumption University and its teaching site Sripruetta School jointly organized Chinese traditional culture camp. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Chaiya Chauychaisri, the vice director of Sripruetta School, commissioned by Mr. Veera Janchai, the director of Sripruetta School, and Mr. Zhao Peiqin, the Chinese director of Confucius Institute at Assumption University unveiled the teaching site plate together. Mr. Thammanoon Suansook, another vice director, heads of various departments and teacher representatives of Sripruetta School attended the unveiling ceremony.

In his speech, Mr. Chaiya Chauychaisri expressed thanks to Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and Confucius Institute at Assumption University for their guidance and help. After the contract to build a teaching site was signed between Sripruetta School and Confucius Institute at Assumption University, Sripruetta School opened Chinese courses to all its students, which is very popular among the teachers, students and their parents. Sripruetta School will strengthen their support for Chinese language teaching, Chinese proficiency tests and so on.

Song and dance performances from students of Sripruetta School, indicating “the Thai and the Chinese are the family”, are the prelude of the Chinese culture camp.

More than 300 junior middle school students in grade one participated in this one-day camp. The activities included: calligraphy, Chinese painting, masks painting, paper-cutting, Gu Zheng, Chinese chess, Chinese tea etiquette, traditional Chinese costumes, and ink blowing painting. In order to get the students deeply involved, the organizers divided the students into different teams. The teachers scored the teams according to their performance. The top three teams are the winners for the prizes provided by Spriuetta School. The camp provided the opportunity for the students to test their Chinese learning result, experience Chinese traditional culture, enhance their interests in Chinese learning, and deepen their understanding of China and Chinese culture.
