December 12-13, 12th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Xi’an, China. Madam Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of China and Chairwoman of Confucius Institute Headquarters delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. The theme is “cooperation and innovation, building a shared future for the mankind”. More than 2500 delegates from about 140 countries or regions attended the conference.
Ms. Qiu Nan, a volunteer teacher at CIAU, was named CI Volunteer Teacher of the year and received her medal from Madam Liu Yandong.
Professor Lu Fuping, vice president of Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST), director of International Exchange Office of TUST and the two directors of CIAU attended the conference.
CIAU was founded on September 12, 2015. At present, there are 2 Hanban sponsored teachers, 5 volunteer teachers, 2 Thai teachers working at CIAU. Although CIAU is only two years old, it has 5 affiliated teaching sites and 4 Chinese proficiency test centers and successfully organized various Chinese culture activities. Confucius Institute Headquarters and the community think CIAU is doing a great job.
