September 22, Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU) and its teaching site Assumption College Rayong (ACR) co-hosted Confucius Institute (CI) Day and ACR’s Chinese Language and Culture Day activities. More than 1000 teachers and students witnessed the activities and got a better understanding of Chinese culture.
Ms. Weeraya Srichumpol, the director of Chinese Language Department of ACR hosted the opening ceremony. Mr. Zhao Peiqin, CIAU Chinese Director, delivered the opening speech and introduced the origin of the Confucius Institute Day and the working plans of the CIAU for the coming months. Bro. Surakit Srisrankulwong, the director of ACR, commended the achievements in Chinese teaching, Chinese culture activities, and Chinese proficiency tests since ACR became a teaching site of CIAU. Bro. Surakit Srisrankulwong and Mr. Zhao Peiqin awarded prizes to students who got good grades in HSK mock tests. Mr. Zhao Peiqin conferred the teaching site plaque to Bro. Surakit Srisrankulwong.
ACR teachers and students prepared wonderful performances for CI Day activities, including Guzheng solo, live Chinese painting, Chinese dances, Peking operas and dramas.
The activities included Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, paper cutting, tea art, traditional Chinese clothes, Tai Chi, Chinese chess, traditional Chinese food. Those activities enhanced the interests of teachers and students in Chinese language and culture.
